Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University hits the road for week three, taking on Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Last Time Out
The Bearcats defeated Central State in their home opener, 38-3. Dylan Mountain had a dominating game, throwing for 167 and rushing for 127, scoring 3 touchdowns in the win. Curtis Cuillard averaged over 10 yards per catch, hauling in 2 touchdowns. SBU had 465 yards of total offense in the win, allowing just 309 total yards of offense by the visitors. Possibly the most impressive stat, the Bearcats went an outstanding 6-6 (scores-chances) when in the red zone.

The Panthers fell to Quincy at home last weekend. Although the Hawks scored first, the Panthers jumped to a 10-7 lead at halftime. Kentucky Wesleyan fell apart in the second half, getting outscored 27-6 for a final of 34-16. The Panthers really struggled to run the ball, accumulating a slim 45 rushing yards. The KWC offense did pass for 277 yards, but their opponents threw for 293. The Panther defense gave up 495 yards of total offense. A major weakness for KWC was the inability to convert on 3rd down, converting just 2 times on 18 attempts.

The Coaches & The All-Time Series
Robert Clardy begins his 5th season as the head coach of the Bearcats. The 2016 was historic for Clardy and the Bearcats, making their first ever NCAA Playoff appearance, National Ranking, and Conference Championship. Due to their success, Clardy was named 2016 GLVC Coach of the Year. In his 4 year stint, Clardy has helped collect 56 All-GLVC Player Awards, 6 All-Americans, and coached the 2015 GLVC Freshman of the Year. Clardy wasn't new to SBU when he took the head coaching reigns in 2015. Clardy played for the Bearcats from 2003-06, leading the team in total offense for 3 seasons and rushing and scoring for 2 seasons. He currently holds SBU's pass completion percentage record and sits top 10 in 11 SBU Career Records. Following his career as a player, Clardy joined the coaching staff as an assistant up until he was named head coach for the 2015 season.

Craig Yeast is in his first season as the KWC head coach after receiving the position on December 3rd, 2018. Yeast played college ball at the University of Kentucky and three years in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets. Prior to KWC, Yeast served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Franklin College in Indiana. In 2017, their offense led the conference in yards per game (564.5), total passing yards (4,478), total offense (6,210 yards) and scoring (48.6 points per game).

Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Kentucky Wesleyan, 5-0. The last time these teams faced off was 2009 where the Bearcats defeated the Panthers 50-20 in Bolvar.
