Bolivar, Mo. – The Lindenwood Lions visited SBU Tuesday afternoon for more MIAA competition. The Bearcats swept the Lions 7-0, improving their record to 8-4 (4-1 MIAA).
Before doubles even began, SBU was awarded one doubles point due to Lindenwood having only 4 players, resulting in only 2 doubles matches. The #2 doubles team in the nation,
Jill Van den Dungen and
Klara Vickov, was the first to finish. They defeated their opponent on court #1 with a score of 6-2.
Constanca Crespo and
Diana Cabrera finished shortly after, winning 6-3.
Similar to doubles play, the Bearcats began singles play with the doubles point as well as two singles points due to forfeits from the missing two Lindenwood players on courts #5 and #6.
Constanca Crespo finished first on court #2, defeating her opponent without losing a single game, 6-0 6-0. Her victory sealed the win for SBU, gaining their 4
th point.
Klara Vickov was the next to finish, also winning in straight sets, 6-1 6-1 on court #3.
Jill Van den Dungen finished next, winning on court #1 in two straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2.
Diana Cabrera claimed the 7
th point for the Bearcats on court #4, defeating her opponent 6-0 and 6-4 to sweep the day for SBU.
Of the 8 sets played in singles competition, SBU won 48 games in comparison to Lindenwood's 12 games.
The Bearcats continue their conference play, heading north for their next competition to take on Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western this weekend.
