Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University Athletics mourns the passing of former football player, Stephen Carr, who passed away Saturday evening in Fayetteville, AR. Stephen was part of the SBU Football program from 2011-2014. He was an outstanding offensive lineman for 2 seasons, and an outstanding student-coach for 2 seasons.  
 
"We are very sad to hear the news of Stephen's death," said SBU Director of Athletics, Mike Pitts. "He was an outstanding student-athlete for SBU. We send his family our heartfelt thoughts and prayers."
 
Carr had been working for the Fayetteville Police Department since April of 2017. The department described him as a hero, serving the community with dedication and professionalism. Carr also left a lasting impact at SBU, both as a player and as a person. Please remember the Carr family in your prayers.
