Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats wrapped up the 2019 portion of the season with a 76-48 win against Tabor College Monday afternoon. With the win, SBU improves to 7-2 (0-1 GLVC) on the season.
The first SBU bucket was made a little over 3 minutes into the game, a
Brady Smith layup from
Damian Prgomet.
Lucas Brueggemann and
Quinn Nelson hit back-to-back 3's to help SBU to their first lead of the game. It was then Nelson and
Godfrey Rolle making back-to-back 3's, pushing the lead to 14-9 with 12:54 left in the first half. Later in the half,
Damian Prgomet scored 6 straight on two dunks and a layup to push SBU's lead to 30-16.
Joe Miller nailed a three and
Quinn Nelson scored a layup in the final two minutes, creating a 39-22 score at the break.
The visitors made the first bucket of the second half, but SBU proceeded to go on a 15-0 run over the next 6 minutes, pushing their lead to 30. The Bearcats continued to find success from three-point range, as
Joe Miller and
Mitch Ganote made back-to-back 3's with 10:25 remaining. The teams continued back and forth until time expired, SBU claiming a 76-48 victory.
Quinn Nelson missed just two shots in the game, going 7-9 from the field, 4-6 from three, and 2-2 from the free throw line for 20 points.
Damian Prgomet contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds, along with 2 blocks.
Joe Miller was the other Bearcat in double-digits, scoring 16. Also contributing to the win was
Mitch Ganote, finishing with 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals.
The Bearcats take a break until January 2 when they travel to McKendree, resuming GLVC action. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM tipoff.
