Bearcats Host Blue Jays for Kids Day at the Game

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist (6-2, 0-1 GLVC) will play one more game before Christmas after defeating Central Christian College of the Bible last Friday evening. The Bearcats will host Tabor College Monday morning. Game time is set for 11:00 AM at the Meyer Sports Center, due to the contest being Kids Day at the Game. 

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their most recent competition, the Bearcats handled Central Christian College of the Bible with ease, defeating the Saints 89-47. The starters played an average of just 15.6 minutes that game, and Damian Prgomet managed to grab 10 rebounds in that time. Juan Morales led the team in scoring with 11 points, and he also finished with 9 rebounds. The scoring was well divided, as 15 different Bearcats scored in the contest.

The Bearcats come into the 2019-20 season following an appearance in the MIAA Tournament last season. Finishing with a 13-15 (7-12 MIAA) regular season record, the Bearcats received the #10 seed in the conference tournament. In the first round, SBU edged out #7 Lindenwood 76-75, becoming the first #10 seed to win a game in the MIAA Tournament and picking up their first conference tournament win since 2006. Washburn put an end to SBU's run in the second round with a 77-58 final score. The Bearcats are now full-time member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference which consists of 16 teams. Lindenwood is also making the move from the MIAA to the GLVC. Three starters return for SBU, Godfrey Rolle, Damian Prgomet, and Quinn Nelson. In addition to those three starters, Tyler Williams and Lucas Brueggemann also return from last year's roster. This year's roster consists of 16 total players, 11 of those being new faces. The breakdown of the roster is 2 seniors, 5 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 5 freshmen. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
The Tabor College Blue Jays (Hillsboro, KS) come into Monday's matchup with a 2-11 (0-10 KCAC) record on the season. The Blue Jays won their first two games of the season, but are currently riding an 11 game losing streak. In their most recent competition, Tabor College fell to Sterling College by 3 points, 74-77. Empoira State University hosted Tabor College in November, defeating the Blue Jays 82-51. In that contest, Tyler Zinn scored 14 points. Zinn leads the team in points per game with 18.3 and rebounds per game with 6.7. He also has 64 assists and 18 steals this season.

THE COACHES
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his sixth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 62-83 (32-66 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 244-189 across fourteen seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 22 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Micah Ratzlaff returns as the head coach for the Blue Jays, his 13th season in the position. Last season, Ratzlaff led the Blue Jays to a 7-23 (5- 19 KCAC) record, dropping their last 4 in a row. Just 3 seasons ago, Ratzlaff led Tabor to a 25-10 (19-3 KCAC) record, losing by 2 points in the NAIA Division II National Quarterfinals.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The only competition between these teams was in 1995-96 where the Blue Jays defeated the Bearcats.
