Nashville, Tenn. - Wrapping up the Trevecca Classic Saturday morning, SBU took on Lake Superior State. In their final game of the opening weekend tournament, SBU fell short to Lake Superior State, 77-85. They move to 1-1 on the season.

The first basket for the Bearcats was scored by
Damian Prgomet, followed by a 3 from
Mitch Ganote to give SBU their first lead of the day. Around 5 minutes into the game,
Kent Thomas nailed a three to give SBU a 5-point lead. Around the 12-minute mark,
Quinn Nelson hit a jumper to put SBU ahead 18-12. On LSSU's next possession,
Damian Prgomet stuffed the Lakers shooter and Nelson recovered the rebound. Just over halfway through the 1
st half, LSSU battled back to just a 2-point SBU lead. The teams really battled back and forth, but the Lakers ended up gaining a solid lead late in the half.
Quinn Nelson made a three with 25 seconds before halftime, creating a 44-34 LSSU lead at the half.

Although SBU hit a couple of 3's early in the 2
nd half, Lake Superior State kept up and maintained a pretty solid lead. Close to the 11-minute mark,
Damian Prgomet scored a layup and was fouled, later converting the three-point play with a free throw. SBU's next score was another
Kent Thomas 3, bringing SBU back within 7. Quin Nelson continued his hot hand late in the game, sinking a three and a free throw to cut the lead to 66-62. With 2:43 to go,
Godfrey Rolle nailed a shot from beyond the arc, making the score 70-73 in favor of the Lakers. After an LSSU free throw, Rolle made a layup to make it a 2-point contest. However, the Lakers stayed strong until the end to win 85-77.

Quinn Nelson went 4-9 from three-point range, helping him get 15 points. He also had 4 assists and 4 rebounds.
Damian Prgomet neared another double-double, scoring 13 points with 8 rebounds, adding 3 blocks as well.
Godfrey Rolle and
Brady Smith also had double digit points, scoring 13 and 11 respectively.

The Bearcats return home for their next competition, hosting Ozark Christian College on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30 PM for their home opener.
