Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist (3-2, 0-0 GLVC) will host the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange. The Bearcats are off to a solid start going 3-2 through their first 5 games of the 2019-20 season.Â
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats are scoring 83.5 points per game and only allowing 70.2 points per game.Â
Bailey Rezabek is helping to lead the Bearcats in scoring with a very strong 18.5 points per game.Â
Alexus Johnson is a big contributor for SBU as well with 13.5 points per game and averaging 2.8 three pointers made a game. The Bearcats are being led by 3 seniors and a graduate transfer as well as 3 transfer juniors that are making immediate impacts. Young talent on this team will be the deciding factor and gives the Bearcats a very promising future.Â
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Hannibal-LaGrange is an NAIA school in the same conference as Missouri Baptist who the Bearcats faced earlier this year. The Trojans are coming off of a loss to nationally ranked Columbia College, falling 48-85. For the Trojans this will be an exhibition match while it will be a regular season game for the Bearcats. Hannibal-LaGrange is a very young team with 8 new freshman for the 2019-20 season. Defense is a key for the Trojans, holding their opponents to 51 and 63 points in the two wins on the season.Â
THE COACHES
SBU head coachÂ
Kelsey Keizer begins her sixth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 66-76 (35-63 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-MIAA honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as SBU lost the head-to-head against the #10 seeded MSSU earlier in the season.
Kelly Quigle began at Hannibal-LaGrange in 2012 as an assistant for the women's basketball team. She then made the jump to head coach in 2012 and is now in her 8th season with the team. As a player she played for John Wood Community College, earning several awards for her play on the court and her grades as well.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist has played host to Hannibal-LaGrange twice in the past and most recently in the 2018-19 season. The Bearcats won that game 102-58 with 5 players finishing in double digits, including Bailey Rezabek and Brylee Graddy who look to have repeat performances again this year.Â
