Claremore, Okla. - Southwest Baptist (2-1, 0-0 GLVC) are coming off of a dominating win against Westminster where they scored 114 points. Southwest Baptist looks to beat their first MIAAÂ opponent of the year after falling to Missouri Western earlier.Â
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats come into the 2019-20 season following a 10-18 (6-13 MIAA) regular season record. Prior to last season, the Bearcats had gone three consecutive years with winning records. The Bearcats are now full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference which consists of 16 teams. Lindenwood is also making the move from the MIAA to the GLVC. SCOUTING THE HILLCATS
Rogers State comes into the matchup against the Bearcats following a loss to Oklahoma Baptist. As a team they are only averaging 66 points per game on 37.4% field goal shooting. They are led in scoring by Lilly Garner who has been averaging 14 points per game coming off the bench. Rogers State is making their debut as a member of the MIAA this year and are returningÂ
THE COACHES
SBU head coachÂ
Kelsey Keizer begins her sixth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 66-76 (35-63 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-MIAA honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as SBU lost the head-to-head against the #10 seeded MSSU earlier in the season.
Kyle Bent is entering his second season with the Hillcats. His previous season with the Hillcats he finished with a 14-14 record and going 7-7 in conference play. He looks to have the same successes despite moving to a new conference this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bearcats have only faced the Hillcats twice in the past and have won both games. The combined winning margin is 36 between the two games. Kelsey Keizer has led the Bearcats to both of these wins in the past two years. The Bearcats look to keep the winning going with one more this season.
