Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats of McKendree University visited Bolivar Sunday afternoon, defeating the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist University 1-0. With the loss, SBU drops to 1-8 (1-6 GLVC).
Owen Luscombe got the start in goal, making a couple saves early in the 1
st period.
Race Roberts had the first shot for SBU but it was saved by the McKendree goal keeper. A few minutes later, Roberts got another shot on goal but it had the same outcome. Both teams had solid defense in the 1
st, going into halftime with a 0-0 tie. The story was much of the same for most of the 2
nd period, but McKendree broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 81
st minute. Luscombe made a couple more saves after, but SBU was unable to net a goal, ending in a 1-0 McKendree win.

Race Roberts had 2 shots on goal, leading the team. Freshman
Owen Luscombe made 7 saves and allowed just 1 goal against a good McKendree team.
A road trip to Quincy and Truman State is next on the schedule for the Bearcats, taking place on Friday, October 11 and Sunday, October 13.
