Indianapolis, Ind. – The SBU Volleyball team competed in the GLIAC/GMAC/GLVC Crossover Friday, which was day one of the two-day tournament. In the first match of the day, SBU took on Ohio Valley, where the Fighting Scots defeated the Bearcats 3-1. In the second match of the day, SBU defeated Alderson Broaddus 3-1, splitting the day and improving their record to 3-18 (0-7 GLVC).
Match One
The Bearcats came out of the gate hot, winning the first set 25-18. Ohio Valley took over after that, winning 25-17, 25-22, and 25-16 to take the match. Three Bearcats were in double digit kills,
Ana Hanes,
Delanie Tipton, and
Mikhaela Cochran.
Delanie Tipton led both teams with 4 blocks, and
Makenzie Bouse added another 33 assists to her resume.
Match Two
SBU again started the match very well, taking the first set by a decisive score of 25-15. They continued their momentum, taking the second set 25-18. Alderson Broaddus fought back in the third set, winning 25-19, but SBU ultimately took the match in extra points in set four, 31-29. The stat that really stuck out between the teams was SBU's 10 blocks to AB's 4.
Delanie Tipton led both teams with another 5 blocks,
Rachel Pfeifer had the most kills for SBU with 11, and
Kylie Talbott recorded 10 more digs to her season total.
The crossover continues tomorrow, with SBU's only match taking place at 12 PM CDT against Purdue-Northwest.
