Edmond, Okla. – SBU fell to UCO in the final seconds, 62-68. The Bearcats move to 10-9 (4-6 MIAA) on the season.
Maris Colton got things going for the Bearcats, nailing a three to begin the game. The Bronchos responded with a three of their own, but
Godfrey Rolle made a layup and was fouled, successfully completing the three point play. UCO hit two more three's on their next two possessions, giving them a 9-6 lead early on.
Chris Rossow scored the next 5 for SBU, creating a tie ball game with 14:49 to go in the first half. Again, it was the three ball for the home team that gave them the lead. As the second media timeout rolled around, the Bronchos pushed their lead to 25-14.
UCO scored the next two buckets as well, giving them a 15 point lead with 8:48 remaining in the half.
Chris Rossow and
Quinn Nelson helped SBU stay in the game, scoring a layup and three respectively. With 1:19 to go,
Tyler Williams scored a layup followed by a
Quinn Nelson layup, cutting UCO's lead to 7 at the half, 35-28.
The home team scored the first four points of the second half. SBU's first bucket came off a
Chris Rossow layup 2:14 into the half. The Broncho lead stayed around 8-10 points for a majority of the second half. The Bearcats cut that lead to 5 a few times thanks to a
Karim Mouliom three pointer, a
Godfrey Rolle three pointer, and a
Maris Colton layup.
With 7:48 to go,
Tyler Williams made a layup to bring SBU within 3. After UCO made a free throw,
Godfrey Rolle nailed a three, followed by another
Maris Colton layup, giving SBU a 56-55 lead. The teams traded leads the remainder of the game. With three minutes left, UCO had a 61-60 lead. With the clock reading 1:13,
Karim Mouliom scored a huge layup to give the Bearcats a 62-61 lead. On the Bronchos next possession, they converted a three point play, regaining the lead. SBU was unable to convert on their next possession, and made the Bronchos shoot free throws, creating a final score of 68-62.
Karim Mouliom scored his fifth double-double in the past six games with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He also came within 4 assists of a triple double.
Godfrey Rolle and
Maris Colton also had double digit points, 13 and 12 respectively.
The Bearcats continue their road trip in Oklahoma, their next game coming against Northeastern State on Saturday, February 2. Tipoff for the men will be at 3:30 PM.
