Box Score
Bolivar, Mo. – The Women's Basketball team came up just short against MIAA opponent, Nebraska-Kearney Thursday evening. With the loss, SBU moves to 4-8 (0-3 MIAA) on the year.

The Bearcats struck first, scoring on a Bailey Rezabek layup just 9 seconds into the game. On their next possession, RayShee Smith nailed a three pointer to give SBU an early 5 point lead. The teams battled back and forth, but SBU would go on a 12-5 run to end the quarter with an 11 point lead.

The second quarter began in similar fashion to the first, with a Bailey Rezabek layup, giving SBU their largest lead at 13 points. After a Loper basket, Caylee Richardson made a jumper, but neither team would score again for 2 whole minutes. UNK battled back, and drew a foul with 3 seconds before halftime, cutting the SBU lead to 34-28.

Caylee Richardson got the Bearcats going in the second half, completing a three point play on a foul following her layup. With 6:36, the Lopers cut the lead down to 4, but Morgan Henderson made two free throws shortly after. SBU maintained a solid lead throughout the third, going into the fourth with a 49-44 lead.

Nebraska-Kearney hit three quick layups in the fourth to take a 50-49 lead. Following the layups, they continued the pressure with a good three pointer, pushing their lead to 4. RayShee Smith kept SBU in the game, scoring two quick layups followed by a Bailey Rezabek three pointer to give SBU the lead again. With 4:13 remaining, Morgan Henderson hit a jumper to tie the game up at 60. Shortly after, she then hit a three pointer, but the Lopers responded with a three point play of their own. Free throws would pretty much be the remainder of the game, outside of a UNK layup, and a RayShee Smith three pointer. Smith's three came with just 1 second remaining, cutting UNK's lead to 2, but a foul before the in-bounds play allowed the Lopers to score two more, creating a final score of 74-70.

Morgan Henderson finished two rebounds shy of a double-double, scoring 16 in the loss. RayShee Smith also scored 16, grabbed 4 boards, and dished 4 assists. Caylee Richardson and Bailey Rezabek were the other Bearcats in double digit points.

SBU continues their MIAA action, taking on FHSU on Saturday, January 5th at 1:30 PM in Bolivar.
