Warrensburg, Mo. - Strong second half shooting not enough as Bearcats fall to the Jennies 75-63. With the loss, the Bearcats record falls to 6-12 (2-7 MIAA).
 
SBU found themselves on the wrong side of a scoring run to start the game as the Jennies went on an 11-0 run. The run was ended with 6:15 remaining in the first quarter when Madison Strong scored on a layup.
 
This would be one of three field goals that the Bearcats would hit as they totaled only 9 points in the first quarter, and after the end of the first quarter, the Bearcats would trail UCM 26-9.
 
The Bearcats in the second quarter would see their offense kick back into gear as they hit on 42.9% of their shots and 50% of their three-point attempts, but as the teams went into halftime the Bearcats still trailed the Jennies 44-25.
 
At halftime, SBU was led in scoring by Morgan Henderson, Laura Vierkant, and Bailey Rezabeck who all totaled 5 points.
 
To start off the third quarter SBU would go on a quick 5-1 run that would cut the Jennies lead to 45-30 with 8:30 remaining in the quarter. After this run by the Bearcats, the Jennies would go on their own scoring run as they pushed their lead back to a twenty point lead 50-30 with 6:50 remaining.
 
SBU and UCM would exchange baskets for the remainder of the quarter until the Jennies hit a three-pointer right before the buzzer and took a 64-41 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
In the fourth, the Bearcats would hold the Jennies to only 11 points in the quarter while SBU totaled 22 points and brought the UCM lead to 12, but the Bearcats ran out of time and lost to the Jennies by a final score of 75-63.
 
The Bearcats were led in scoring by Caylee Richardson who tallied 13 points while grabbing 5 rebounds, Strong added 11 points while adding 4 rebounds and hitting 3 three-pointers, and Rezabek contributed 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.
 
As a team, SBU shot 42.3% from the field, 40% from the three-point line, and 72.2% from the free throw line. The Bearcats also grabbed 35 rebounds and dished out 12 assists.
 
SBU will be traveling to Edmond, Oklahoma on Thursday, January 31st to play the University of Central Oklahoma at 5:30 PM.
