Men's Basketball Game Preview VS Missouri Southern

The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats (8-6, 2-3 MIAA) will visit the Missouri Southern Lions (12-3, 3-2 MIAA) in an MIAA conference matchup on Saturday, January 12th at 3:30 PM.
 
Previewing the Bearcats
The Bearcats sit at 8-6 (2-3 MIAA) in their 2018-19 season. In their last competition, SBU fell to Pittsburg State by a score of 76-87. Karim Mouliom had a monster double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, as well as making 3 blocks. Mouliom still leads the Bearcats in rebounds and Chris Rossow leads the Bearcats in points, assists, steals, and several other categories.
 
Previewing the Lions
The Missouri Southern Lions sit at 12-3 (3-2 MIAA) on the 2018-19 season. They began the season with a loss to #18 St. Cloud State, falling 89-77. After the loss, the Lions went on an 11 game winning streak, defeating MIAA opponents Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State in the run. Lindenwood broke the winning streak, defeating MSSU 79-57. In their next game, Lincoln also beat the Lions by a score of 90-83. In their most recent competition, Missouri Southern defeated Central Missouri 65-55. The Lions are led by Cam Martin, scoring 22.2 points per game and grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game.
 
The Coaches
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his fifth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 48-67 (25-54 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 230-173 across thirteen seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 21 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Jeff Boschee begins his 5th year as the head coach at Missouri Southern. In his first season as head coach, the Lions went 20-11 and earned a ticket to the MIAA tournament. His overall record at Southern is 162-79. He played college ball at the University of Kansas and was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 1999-2000. He holds the career records for three's made at Kansas.
 
All-Time Series
Missouri Southern leads the all-time series over SBU, 51-43. In their only matchup in the 2017-18 season, the Lions beat the Bearcats by a score of 88-72.
