Women's Soccer Falls to Lindenwood 1-3

St. Charles, Mo. - The Bearcats fell to MIAA opponent Lindenwood by a score of 3-1 Sunday afternoon. SBU's record goes to 0-9-1 (0-3 MIAA) on the year. 

The game began in a quiet manner, neither team getting a shot off until the 14:47 mark when Lindenwood got a header on goal, but Ashlyn Gibbs made the save. Lindenwood scored the first goal of the game 28 minutes into the match. At the 33:31 mark, Kylee Ryan got a shot on goal for the Bearcats, but a save was made. A second goal was scored for the Lions, this one coming at 42:23. The half would end with a score of 2-0 in favor of Lindenwood. 

The Bearcats came out of halftime in an aggressive manner, getting three shots off early. Lauren Hudak shot first at the 52 minute mark, the result being high. Then Raegan Edwards fired a shot that was blocked. Sheena Nichol followed with a shot of her own, but the Lindenwood goalie made the save. The Lions rallied back with a few shots of their own, but the SBU defense held strong, not allowing a goal. At the 62:15 mark, SBU cut the Lindenwood lead in half, thanks to a Raegan Edwards goal from Nicole Lee. However, the Lions scored their third goal of the afternoon just 6 minutes after the SBU goal. At the 83 minute Sheena Nichol fired a shot that hit the post, then Laura Manuel responded with a shot of her own that was saved. Immediately after that, Raegan Edwards took a penalty shot, but couldn't find the back of the net. Neither team would score again, resulting in a 3-1 Lindenwood win. 

The Bearcats play next at Washburn on October 5th at 6 PM.
