The Bearcats started the game with a rough first drive that began with a delay of game penalty. They were unable to generate any momentum, forced to punt the ball away. At the 9:40 mark of the second quarter, SBU received the ball on their own 46 after an S&T punt. The drive was a quick, one play drive, resulting in a Bryse Salik to Connor Ratcliff touchdown. The Miners responded with a quick touchdown drive of their own, making the score 17-7 in favor of the Miners. Another SBU scoring drive started with 5:21 remaining in the second quarter. The highlight on this drive was a 66 yard touchdown connection from Salik to Mario Lanier, trimming the Miner lead to 14-17. S&T got the ball back with too much time left in the half and was able to drive the field and pulled ahead 24-14 with just 35 seconds left in the half.

S&T scored on their first two drives of the second half, giving them a 38-14 lead. The Bearcats answered with a scoring drive, a touchdown coming from Eric Knight. A two-point attempt was made, but the result was unsuccessful, leaving the score 38-20. The teams would then swap field goal drives, S&T hitting from 25 and Alec Gathright hitting from 44. The Miners scored their final points early into the fourth quarter, taking a 48-23 lead with 14:51 left in the game. Neither team would score again, finishing in S&T's favor.
