Central Missouri Tops SBU Women's Soccer 3-1

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Women's Soccer Team fell to Central Missouri Friday evening by a score of 1-3. With the loss, the Bearcats move to 0-8-1 (0-5-0 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats got of to a blazing hot start. Maya Cofield got a shot off a little over a minute into the match that landed wide, but Tessa Wagner was able to find the back of the net after a corner kick. SBU took an early 1-0 lead. Not taking their foot off the gas, the Bearcats continued to make shots, but couldn't get past UCM's goalie. At the 12:00 mark, UCM tied it with a goal of their own. A handball on the Bearcats led to a penalty kick opportunity and the Jennies took advantage, scoring their second goal of the night. Neither team would score again before halftime, giving UCM a 2-1 lead at the half. 

UCM brought pressure early, but the Bearcat defense held strong. At the 54:41 mark, the Jennies scored their third goal of the night, giving them a 3-1 advantage. Reagan Edwards tried to cut the UCM lead with a shot at 62:59, but it was high. Solid defense was played the remainder of the game, neither team allowing another goal. UCM would finish with a 3-1 win. 

Ashlyn Gibbs finished the night with 9 saves. Raegan Edwards shot the ball 7 times on the night and 5 of those were on goal. 

Southwest Baptist Women's Soccer plays again Sunday afternoon, taking on Lindenwood in St. Charles at 11 AM.
