Bolivar, Mo. – On Sunday afternoon the Bearcats hosted Central Oklahoma for their second matchup in a little over a week. The Bronchos topped the Bearcats 8-1, giving SBU a record of 0-7-1 (0-4 MIAA) on the season.
Maya Cofield gave the Bearcats an early lead, landing a beautiful header to make the score 1-0 SBU. However, just a few minutes later the Bronchos evened things up with a goal of their own at the 35:31 mark. Possession went back and forth for a while in the first half, but UCO was able to score six more goals, giving them a 7-1 lead going into halftime.
The second half began strong defensively for both teams.
Raegan Edwards made a shot after a UCO penalty, but it was blocked.
Ashlyn Gibbs made several big saves in the 48
th minute and 55
th minute. At 74:49 Gibbs made a diving stop that kept the Bronchos out of the net. UCO managed to net another at the 77:36 mark.
Maya Cofield attempted a shot shortly after, but the defense blocked it. The game ended with a final score of 8-1 in favor of UCO.
Ashlyn Gibbs ended up with 11 saves on the afternoon.
The Bearcats will be back in action Friday, September 28 at 7 PM taking on UCM at Warrensburg.
