Bolivar, Mo. - The Men's Soccer Team hosted Harding University Thursday evening. The Bearcats fell to the visitors by a final score of 2-0. The loss brings their record to 0-5 (0-0 MIAA).
Josh Peloquin got things going offensively for both sides, putting a shot on goal a little over 5 minutes into the game. Just a couple minutes later, Harding put a shot on goal and
Will vanHoornbeek made an amazing diving stop, keeping the score locked at 0-0. That tie would be broken by Harding at the 26:45 mark. Harding would get a few more shots on goal before the end of the half, but the Bearcats played solid defense to close out the first period.Â
The visitors struck first in the shot column of the second half. They also scored another goal 15 minutes into the half, giving Harding a 2-0 lead. At the 62:21 mark,
John Clerveau booted one toward the goal, but was blocked by the defense. Neither team would score again, leaving a final score of 2-0 in favor of Harding.
Will vanHoornbeek finished with 8 saves on the night.
The Bearcats will be in action again on Sunday, September 16 at 2 PM hosting Ouachita Baptist.
