Liberty, Mo. - Southwest Baptist Men's Soccer battled hard against William Jewell, but fell 3-2 Tuesday evening. The loss brings the Bearcats to 0-4 (0-0 MIAA) on the season.
Josh Peloquin made the first shot in the match, but the result was high. SBU and William Jewell went back an forth in the 1st half until the Cardinals struck first at the 28:21 mark. As the first half was winding down,
Alberto Rodriguez evened the score 1-1 with a goal only 31 seconds before the end of the half.Â
The second half began strong defensively until the 73:37 mark where William Jewell netted their second goal of the game. As time was winding down,
Josh Peloquin gave the Bearcats hope, tying the score 2-2 with a little over 2 minutes in the game. However, William Jewell was given a penalty kick with a minute and a half to go, and they succeeded with their attempt, giving the Cardinals a 3-2 lead. That lead would turn into the final score.
Will vanHoornbeek made 4 saves on the day and
Isaiah Waddy assisted on both goals.
