Box Score
St. Charles, Mo. – Southwest Baptist and Lindenwood played the rubber match of their series Friday afternoon, and the Lions came away with the win by a final score of 17-6. The loss drops SBU's record to 13-22 (7-15 MIAA) on the season.

Following a scoreless top of the 1st for the Bearcats, Lindenwood wasted no time in grabbing the lead in the ballgame. The Lions totaled five runs on four hits in the 1st off SBU starter Elias Czech. Immediately, the Bearcat offense responded with a run in top of the 2nd to cut the deficit to 5-1. Clint Jack led off the 2nd with a triple to left center. After a walk and two strikeouts, Luke Winfrey delivered a two-out RBI single that got SBU on the board. In the bottom of the 2nd inning though, Lindenwood increased their advantage to 7-1 and chased Czech from the game.

Despite being down six runs, the Bearcats showed resolve to climb back into the game in the 3rd and 4th inning. In the top of the 3rd, Hunter Hisky walked with one out. The next batter, Carl Schwettmann, pounded a two run homer to left center that made the score 7-3 Lions. In the top of the 4th, Tyler Mathys started the inning with a single. With two outs and Mathys on 2nd base, Carl Schwettmann singled to drive in Mathys. Clint Jack then reached on a three base error by the Lindenwood left fielder that allowed Schwettmann to score and trim the Lions lead down to 7-5.

The Lions stretched their lead back to three runs, 8-5, in the bottom of the 4th on a solo home run. Moving to the top of the 6th, the Bearcats capitalized on a couple Lindenwood miscues and make it a two run ballgame once again. Andrew Meier was hit by a pitch with one out. After a foul out, Schwettmann and Jack reached on back-to-back errors that sent home Meier.

The 8-6 score was the closest the Bearcats would come to tying as the Lions tallied nine runs over the final two frames to win 17-6 in seven innings. Elias Czech took the loss (1-2) after throwing one inning with 2 strikeouts, 2 walks, 6 hits, and 7 earned runs given up. Cory Dudley had the best outing out of the bullpen, throwing two innings with 1 earned run, 4 hits, a walk, and a strikeout.

In the batter's box, Schwettmann continued his hot streak with a 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. He also is now tied for the team lead in home runs as he smashed his 9th of the season today. Hisky and Mathys both recorded a hit and run scored. Jack and Winfrey were the only other Bearcats to tally hits on the day.

SBU will return home on Wednesday, April 11th. The Bearcats will welcome in Central Missouri for an MIAA conference matchup at 2:00 PM.
