Edmond, Ok. - Southwest Baptist Women's Tennis lost for the first time this season to Nebraska Kearny in the first round of the NCAA Regional Championship by a final score of 5-2.
In doubles, Jill Van den Dungen and Klara Vickov, the #2 ranked doubles pair in the nation, continued their strong performance this season and quickly grabbed the first point for the Bearcats. On court #3, Beatrix Federer and Sarah Brown fought back from 7-4 down but they came up short and lost 8-6. On court #2, Lucia Diaz and Constanca Crespo came back from 7-4 down but Lopers pulled out the win to take the lead after doubles.
In singles, Crespo quickly tied the score 2-2 after winning her match in two straight sets. Nebraska Kearney grabbed the 3 points needed to win the match on court #1, #2, and #6 after winning the matches on all three courts in two straight sets.
The Bearcats finish the 2018 season with a 14-5 record and their 8th straight NCAA tournament appearance.
