Box Score
Maryville, Mo. – Andrew Meier blasted his fourth homer of the season but Northwest Missouri's offense was too much as they claimed a 14-3 win in seven innings over Southwest Baptist Saturday. The loss drops SBU's record to 16-30 (10-22 MIAA) while Northwest Missouri improves to 28-18 (22-10 MIAA).

Similar to the first game of the series on Friday, Northwest Missouri jumped in front with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. After surrendering the two runs, SBU starter Adam White bounced back to toss a scoreless bottom of the 2nd inning. The Northwest Bearcats would pad their lead though in the bottom of the 3rd inning with three runs to go up 5-0. With the SBU offense stagnant in the top of the 4th and 5th inning, Northwest Missouri tacked onto their advantage with a run in the 4th inning and two more runs in the 5th inning to go ahead 8-0.

Still seeking their first hit of the ballgame, Luke Winfrey stepped to the plate to lead off the top of the 6th inning and delivered an infield single. A batter later, Meier belted the sixth pitch of his at bat over the right field fence to put the Bearcats on the board and bring the deficit to 8-2. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Northwest Missouri answered with six additional runs to extend their lead to 14-2. SBU would add a run in the top of the 7th inning on a Winfrey sacrifice fly that scored Noah Tucker to make the final 14-3 Northwest Missouri.

White took the loss (3-2) for SBU while Brad Roberts got the win (7-5) on the mound for Northwest Missouri. At the plate for SBU, Meier finished 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and a run while Winfrey and Tucker each had a hit and a run.

The two teams will play the third and final game of their weekend series at 1:00 PM tomorrow in Maryville.
