Emporia, Ks. - SBU totals 10 hits but it's not enough as the Bearcats fall in the final game at Emporia State 18-8. The loss puts SBU at 6-11 (1-5 MIAA) , while Emporia State moves to 9-7 (3-3 MIAA). 

In the first inning the Bearcats got on the board when Hunter Hisky reached on an error, this allowed Tyler Mathys to score. The Bearcats would add two more runs in the first both by sacrifice flies to the outfield. One by Carl Schwettman that scored Andrew Meier, and the second by Don Roethler which scored Hisky. Dalton Morrow would keep the Hornets quite in the bottom half of the first inning keeping the score at 3-0. 
In the second inning however the roels were reversed as the Bearcats were held scoreless while Emporia State scored three times to tie the game up at 3-3.

The Bearcats would get another run in the third inning when Roethler doubled to left field, this allowed Clint Jack to score and the Bearcats regained the lead 4-3. But this lead did not last long as the Hornets score a run of their own in the bottom half of the third making the score 4-4.

In the fourth the Bearcats would get the bats working again. Meier opened the scoring in the fourth with a double to left scoring Noah Tucker. Hisky the next batter singled to center that allowed both Mathys and Meier to score. This made the score 7-4 in favor of the Bearcats. However, this would be the last time that the Bearcats would have the lead as the Hornets scored 14 runs, all between the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. 

The Bearcats would manage to score one in the seventh when Jackson Mueller doubled to left scoring Jack. This made the score 8-16, but the Hornets scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and run ruled the Bearcats 18-8.

For the Bearcats three players had two hits those being Andrew Meier, Clint Jack and Don Roethler. Hunter Hisky lead SBU in RBI's with 3 while Roethler added 2 and Andrew Meier, Carl Schwettman, and Jackson Muller had one.

The Bearcats will be in action next on Friday, March 9 as SBU will be in Oklahoma, to take on the University of Central Oklahoma.
