Game 1
The Bearcats jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Payton Wildeman drove in Jaidyn Mawhinney with a double to left-center. She would then get stranded at third. Lauren Strobel continued the strong offense with a two-out hit in the second inning. After stealing second, Kaley Hansen drove her in with a double to left field, giving SBU a 2-0 lead.
Missouri Western got on the board in the third inning, driving in one run. SBU did not get anything going in their half of the third, but had a strong fourth inning. Stormy Greathouse started the inning with a single. Morgan McMullin then smashed a homerun over the left field fence scoring two more. The Griffons fought back in the sixth, driving in one more run, but that would be all, ending the game with a final score of 4-2. Â
The win goes to Claire Miller who is now 10-10 on the season. The Bearcats collected 6 hits from Wildeman, Schellert, Greathouse, McMullin, Strobel, and Hansen.
 Game 2
Missouri Western loaded the bases in their half of the first, but were held to just one run. The Griffons continued with their momentum in the second, bringing home four runs. SBU started the third strong with a single from Morgan McMullin, followed by a walk from Lauren Strobel. Unfortunately, they were stranded on base as the inning came to an end.
Southwest Baptist was able to get two quick outs to begin the fourth inning, but gave up three runs after a homerun, a couple walks, an error, and a hit. At the end of the fourth, Missouri Western led 8-0. Kaylee Schmidli took over on the mound in the fifth inning. The Griffons scored seven more, giving them a 15-0 lead. The Bearcats would be unable to plate any runs in the fifth, causing the game to end 15-0 due to the run rule.
Alexis Dock pitched a majority of the game, allowing 8 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
The SBU softball team will take on Truman State University on Wednesday, April 4th in Bolivar.Â
