Bolivar, Mo - SBU Women's Tennis lost in their first home game against #11 Northeastern State by a final score of 5-4.
In doubles, Lucia Diaz and Constanca Crespo managed to get the first point for SBU by winning their doubles 8-5. Jill Van Den Dungen and Klara Vickov added another point for the Bearcats by winning their doubles with only one break 8-6. Doubles #3 fell short and lost 8-4 to make the score after doubles 2-1 SBU.Â
In singles, the Riverhawks won their singles #6 in two straight sets to tie up the score 2-2. NSU also added two other points by winning singles #3 and #5, making them one point away from winning this competition. NSU singles #1 managed to get the decisive point by winning in two straight sets. After a long match, Crespo won her singles match after losing the first set. Vickov added another point for SBU by defeating her opponent in two straight sets 7-6, 6-3. The final score was 5-4 NSU and SBU's record went to 4-2 (1-1 MIAA).
Women's Tennis will face University of Central Oklahoma Friday, March 16th at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, MO. The match will start at 7:00 PM.
