Hays, Ks - The Bearcats outscored Fort Hays in the second half 29-27, but the hill was to big to climb as SBU fell 52-70 to Fort Hays State. This loss drops the Bearcats to 12-15 (6-12 MIAA), the win for the Tigers makes their record 17-11 (10-9 MIAA). 

Logan Hovey was the only Bearcat that reached double figures as he tallied 13 points and grabbed four rebounds. Damian Prgomet also added 8 points on three of four from the field and blocked two shots during the game. As a team the Bearcats shot 38% from the field (19-50) and had a total of six blocks during the game. 

In the first half the Bearcats found themselves only down 7-13 at the first media timeout with 14:58 in the first half, SBU would get the lead down to four points later in the second half but soon after that point Fort Hays would go on a run and would extend their lead. The Tigers first took their double digit lead with 6:39 in the first half and would continue to build their lead to 20 points at halftime where the Bearcats were down 23-43.

To start the second half both teams exchanged baskets with Fort Hays keeping their double digit lead. With 2:04 left in the game the Bearcats defense did not allow another Hays basket, but the deficit was to big as the Bearcats could not come back. 

The Bearcats will return to action Friday, February 23 as they travel to Kearney, Nebraska as they are to take on the Loopers of Nebraska-Kearney. The tip off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
