Emporia, Ks - The Southwest Baptist University Softball team lost a double header against Concordia University, St. Paul and William Jewell College by a score of 5-3 and 6-1. SBU's record now is 1-5 this season.

Game 1 Recap

Jaidyn Mawhinney started the first inning by reaching on a throwing error by Concordia's third baseman but failed to come around and score. In the bottom of the 1st, the Golden Bears plated the first run of the game. SBU jumped on top in the 2nd inning behind a 2 run homer from Morgan McMullin. In the bottom of the 4th, Concordia plated two runs to take the lead once again. The Golden Bears added single runs in the bottom of the 5th and 6th to make the score 5-2.  In SBU's last chance in the bottom of the 7th, Lauren Strobel scored on a passed ball but that was the only run the Bearcats could push across before losing 5-3. 

Game 2 Recap

William Jewell struck first with two runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Cardinals added three more in the bottom of the 3rd to increase their lead to 5-0. In the top of the 5th, Strobel hit a solo homerun to bring in SBU's first run of the game. However, William Jewell quickly got that run back in the bottom of the 5th. Outside of the Strobel homer, the Bearcats struggled to get much offense rolling in this game and the Cardinals won by a final score of 6-1.

SBU will be back on the diamond tomorrow morning with two games beginning at 9 AM.
