St. Louis, Mo. - The #14 Southwest Baptist University Men's Tennis team opened their season late Saturday night with a match against the #6 ranked in Division III Washington University. Washington University defeated the Bearcats by a 7-2 score. The loss drops SBU to 0-1 on the season while Washington University goes to 1-0.
The Bearcats were swept in the three doubles matches and lost the #1, #2, #3, and #5 singles matches. SBU got victories in the #4 singles match and #6 singles match with Torben Semrau and Marcel Castillo claiming 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-2 wins.
SBU will return to action on February 15th when they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to challenge Harding University. The match is set to begin at 12:00 PM. Â
