SBU Falls for the First Time in MIAA Conference Play at Washburn

Topeka, Kan. - Hot shooting in the second half not enough as the Bearcats fall to the Ichabods 97-72. The loss moves the SBU record to 5-4 (1-1 MIAA).

The Bearcats started off the game hitting three of their first four shots as SBU and Washburn would trade baskets early in the first half. But after a layup by Godfrey Rolle that gave SBU a one point lead with 16:56 the Ichabods would go on a 12-2 run and would grab a nine point lead with 12:54 left in the first half. 

SBU and Washburn would trade baskets until another Ichabod scoring run started at 10:04 left before halftime. Washburn would go on a 30-18 run to conclude the first half. Chris Rossow would hit a three pointer right before halftime and would bring the Washburn lead down to 49-28 at halftime. 

At the half the Bearcats were shooting 38% from the field as a team compared to Washburn's 55% from the field. The Ichabods also hit nine threes in the first half while SBU only hit two three pointers.

In the second half SBU cut the Ichabod lead to 54-40 with 15:24 left in the second half, but this would be the closest SBU would come as the Bearcats would fall 97-72.

SBU was led in scoring by Rossow who added 21 points to go along with 6 assists, Damian Prgomet added 17 points while having 2 blocks and 6 rebounds, and Rolle contributed 12 points.

As a team SBU shot 45% from the field, 38% from three, and 68% from the free throw line. 

The Bearcats will be back in action on Monday, December 17th at 11 AM as SBU faces William Woods University.
