11/9/2018 10:20:00 PM

Box Score

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU had three players with double-digit scoring nights, but it's not enough as SBU falls to Henderson State 83-96, after this game SBU record is 0-1 on the season.

The first quarter of the game was dominated by the offense on both sides, as the two teams combined to score 50 points, but the Bearcats were on the wrong side as they trailed 29-21 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second half the offense cooled off as the Bearcats were able to outscore the Reddies of Henderson State 19-17, this allowed the Bearcats to narrow the gap at halftime as they still trailed 46-40.

SBU in the third quarter would start off strong as they were able to take a one-point lead 49-48 with 7:48 left in the third quarter. But this would be the last time that the Bearcats would have the lead in the game.

In the fourth quarter, SBU would cut the Henderson State lead to seven with little under nine minutes left in the game, but this would be as close as SBU came as their comeback fell short as the Reddies of Henderson State beat the Bearcats 96-83.

SBU was led by Ray'Shee Smith who scored 19 points, Laura Vierkant also added 16 points, and Taliayah Wilson tallied 11 points. As a team, the Bearcats shot 40% from the field and shot 81% from the free-throw line.

The Bearcats will be back in action Saturday, November 10 at 5 PM as they host Ouachita Baptist University.
