Bolivar, Mo. – MIAA opponent Lindenwood Lions visited Bolivar Friday afternoon, beating the Bearcats 3-0. SBU moves to 1-15 (0-7 MIAA).
The Lions were responsible for the first shots of the game, both were blocked by the SBU defense. A little under 10 minutes into the half,
Josh Peloquin fired a shot that the diving Lindenwood goalie stopped.
Luis Romero followed up on the rebound with a shot that fell just wide of the goal. Lindenwood drove down the field, firing a shot that fell wide right of the SBU goal. After a lot of action down neat the visitor's goal,
Isaiah Waddy fired a shot that was close to going in, but grazed the outer edge of the goal, keeping the score 0-0. Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead with a little over 2 minutes left in the first half.
A little over 5 minutes into the second half, the Lions went up 2-0 after a rebound shot. A couple minutes later,
Angel Torres fired a shot that landed just above the crossbar. At the 59:02 mark,
Alberto Rodriguez had a scoring opportunity, but his shot was blocked by the Lion defense. With just over 25 minutes remaining, Lindenwood put another shot on goal, but
Ian Martin was there to make the save, keeping the score 2-0 in favor of the visitors. At the 67:43 mark, Lindenwood scored off of a header, giving them a 3-0 lead. It was a quiet rest of the second half, leaving a final score of 3-0 Lindenwood.
The Bearcats return home Sunday, which will be senior day and their final game of the season against Upper Iowa at 2 PM.
