Bolivar, Mo. - Adnan Jahic tallied 17 points as SBU defeats Ozark Christian 102-38. This win moves the Bearcats record to 2-2 on the year.
The first five minutes of the game was back and forth but as the teams entered the first media timeout at 14:04 in the first SBU held a 19-10 led. But from this point until the second media timeout at 9:46 SBU would go on a 9-4 run to push their lead to double digits 28-14.
Back to back three-pointers, one by
Andy Campbell and
Connor Fuller pushed the Bearcats led to 24 points with just under six minutes remaining in the first half. After some back and forth action between the teams in the final minutes, SBU held a 56-24 lead at halftime.
At halftime, SBU was shooting 61% from the field, 30% from three, and 78% from the free throw line.
Connor Fuller was leading the team with 9 points at halftime, and
Chris Rossow grabbed 5 of the teams 25 rebounds at the break.
In the second half, the Bearcats would come out fast as they would go on an 11-2 to push their lead to 67-28. And besides a early layup in the second half Ozark Christian would not score another basket until 13:11 left in the game, which meant that SBU went on a 23-4 run in ten minutes and making the score 79-28.
After the run, the SBU defense would only allow a total of ten points while the Bearcats offense would tally up another 23 points as the Bearcats would win their second game of the season 102-38.
All of the Bearcats that played in the game against Ozark Christian scored at least four points, but SBU was led by
Adnan Jahic with 17 points,
Maris Colton followed Jahic with 12 points but also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double giving him his first of the season.
As a team, SBU shot 54% from the field, 37% from three, and 76% from the free throw line. SBU also totaled 23 assists and pulled down 59 rebounds 21 of which were offensive rebounds.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, November 20 at 7 PM as they host William Jewell University.
