SBU Football Falls to Quincy in Season Finale

Quincy, Ill. – The SBU Football team wrapped up their 2018 season against GLVC opponent, Quincy. The Hawks won by 3, a final score of 24-21. SBU finishes their season 0-10 (0-7 GLVC).
 
The Hawks began with the ball, driving 64 yards and scoring a field goal on their first drive, taking a 3-0 lead. SBU answered back on their first drive. It started with an 18 yard rush from Eric Knight and ended with a 19 yard touchdown run from Dylan Mountain.  The teams would then swap possessions with punts. Quincy scored again on a one play drive, 10-7. Neither team would generate much offense in the second quarter and the score remained the same going into halftime.
 
SBU began the second half with the ball on their own 31 yard line. After a couple completed passes by Dylan Mountain, SBU took the lead 14-10 thanks to a Connor Ratcliff touchdown pass to Joshua Tips. Quincy fought back, scoring on their next drive as well, 17-14. The Bearcats proceeded to drive down the field, but stalled on the Quincy 44 and Jackson Bagley pinned the Hawks on their own 1 yard line with his punt. After an unsuccessful drive, the Hawks punted, giving the Bearcats the ball early in the fourth quarter. SBU drove 73 yards on 14 plays, but missed a 37 yard field goal. With 8:40 to go, Jacob LaSalle forced a fumble and the Bearcats recovered. Taking over on the Quincy 36, Dylan Mountain took the Bearcat offense to the Quincy 1 yard line following a big rush. He would then run the ball across the goal line to give SBU a 21-17 lead. Quincy scored 8 seconds later to retake the lead 24-21. SBU was forced to punt on their next drive, leaving 4:05 left in the game, and would not regain possession.
 
Dylan Mountain rushed 17 times for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. Joshua Tips had 3 catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Tyler Curts collected 9 total tackles, 6 solo and 3 assists.
