Box Score Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist hosted Oklahoma Baptist in a men's soccer match on Thursday evening. The Bison defeated the Bearcats by a final score of 6-3, giving SBU a record of 1-12 (0-5 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats got a shot on goal very early into the game.
Luis Romero was fed a beautiful pass from
Isaiah Waddy, but the goalie made the save. Following the rebound,
Torben Semrau fired a shot back at the goal, but it was blocked by an OBU defender. In the 10 minute mark OBU went up 1-0 with the first goal of the game. A second goal was scored by OBU after a few minutes of play passed, giving them a 2-0 lead. After the goal,
Torben Semrau fired a shot off a pass from
Josh Peloquin, but the OBU goalie made the save.
Isaiah Waddy had an open lane to the net but got tripped up, leading to a penalty shot. Waddy's shot deflected off the goalie, hitting the crossbar, keeping the score 2-0 in favor of OBU. The Bison would extend their lead to 3-0 after a goal at the 26:29 mark. The Bearcats had a great look on a pass from

Josh Peloquin. Peloquin tried to squeeze the ball through the left side of the open goal, but a diving OBU goalie kept the score at 3-0. The halftime score would be the same as well.
Josh Peloquin got the first shot on goal of the half thanks to a beautiful feed from
Alberto Rodriguez, saved by the Bison. Less than four minutes into the second half, Peloquin and Rodriguez connected for a goal. A cross from Rodriguez led to a
Josh Peloquin header that passed the goalie on the left side, cutting the Bison lead down to 3-1. Peloquin and Waddy had a 2 on 1 heading toward the visiting goal, the result was a wide shot from Peloquin. At the 63:44 mark the Bison scored their fourth goal, extending their lead to 4-1. An OBU foul led to a 23 yard free kick, blocked by the defense. A diving
Will vanHoornbeek kept the Bison out of the goal momentarily, but a corner kick cross led to another OBU goal. With 17:22 left in the game, an OBU hand ball led to a penalty kick for the Bearcats.
Alberto Rodriguez took the shot, faking out the goalie, he snuck the ball past him on the left side, 5-2 OBU. With 7:23 left on the clock,
Josh Peloquin kept SBU in the game, scoring his second goal on an unassisted shot after beating the goalie, 5-3 Bison. Following an SBU foul in the box, OBU scored on their penalty shot, 6-3 OBU. A corner kick cross from
Isaiah Waddy led to an attempted header by
Angel Torres, but it was wide. The final score would end up being 6-3 in favor of the Bison.
Josh Peloquin ended the night with 6 shots, 4 on goal, and 2 goals.
The Bearcats will play again on October 21 at 1 PM, traveling to Tahlequah, OK to take on Northeastern State.
