Hays, Kan. - Along with the volleyball team, the Men's Soccer Team visited Hays, KS to take on the Tigers Friday evening. The Tigers topped the Bearcats 8-0 in the conference matchup, bringing SBU to 1-11 (0-5 MIAA) on the season.
The Tigers came out firing, getting four shots off within two minutes early into the first half, however none of those would pass
Will vanHoornbeek. Keeping the pressure on, FHSU fired seven more shots within the next five minutes, but all of them missed. Barely over 22 minutes into the match, Fort Hays found the back of the net, giving them a 1-0 lead. About 10 minutes later their second goal was made, 2-0 Tigers. Neither team would score before halftime.
A little over 2 minutes into the second half, the Tigers scored a third goal. Following the goal,
Josh Peloquin fired a shot at the FHSU goal, but the result was high. At 54:31 and 57:09 the Tigers scored their fourth and fifth goals respectively, giving them a 5-0 lead. After a sixth goal,
Jarrett Johnson put a shot on goal, but the Tiger goalie made the stop. FHSU would go on to score two more goals, creating a final score of 8-0 in favor of the Tigers.
The Bearcats will be back in action on October 18 at 7:30 PM, hosting Oklahoma Baptist.
