SBU to Host Nebraska Kearney in Conference Showdown Thursday Night

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats (8-4, 0-3 MIAA) continue their homestand Thursday night when they dive back into conference play to host Nebraska Kearney (10-2, 2-2 MIAA).

Previewing the Bearcats
The Bearcats hold a 8-4 (0-3 MIAA) record on the season. Their last contest came this past Saturday against William Woods, who they defeated, 78-69. Over their twelve games, the Bearcats boast the second highest points per game in the conference with 79.6 ppg and the highest free throw percentage in the conference of 82.3%. Megan Rosenbohm and Caylee Richardson make the Bearcats go. Rosenbohm is the 10th best scorer in the NCAA and leading scorer in the MIAA with 21.8 points per game. She also collects 5.1 rebounds per game, 3.6 assists per game, a conference leading 2.7 steals per game, and makes 90.0% of her free throws. Caylee Richardson averages a near double double with 15.5 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game on 61.7% shooting from the field and 89.1% at the line.

Previewing the Lopers
Nebraska Kearney enters the matchup with a record of 10-2 (2-2 MIAA). The Lopers are coming off a 124-42 drubbing of York College. The Lopers rely on three players that account for the bulk of their scoring and rebounding. Alyssa Frauendorfer scores a team leading 15.6 points per game along with collecting 6.0 rebounds per game. Michaela Brown is the next leading scorer with 14.9 points per game while pulling down 4.6 rebounds per game and dishing out 2.5 assists per game. McKenzie Brown pitches in 11.5 points per game and 6.0 boards each game. As a team, Nebraska Kearney scores 77.6 points per game and limit their opponents to just 58.8. 

The Coaches
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer is in her fourth season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU back to the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City for the first time in three years. Coach Keizer led the Bearcats to back-to-back winning seasons (16-14, 7-12 MIAA last year) in 2015-16 and 2016-17. A feat that had not been done since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 51-48 and a 22-40 mark in the MIAA.

Carrie Eighmey is in her third season at Nebraska Kearney. In her first season, Eighmey brought UNK their first winning season since 2009. Across five seasons of head coaching experience, Eighmey holds a career record of 96-61. She was previously the head coach of Hastings College for three seasons, two of which were 20+ win seasons.

All-Time Series
In eight career matchups, Southwest Baptist and Nebraska Kearney have split the contests down the middle, 4-4. Ther last matchup came last February with the Lopers coming out on top by a final score of 93-76.
