Warrensburg, Mo. - The high jump was the Bearcats event of the day as Meleah Ridenour finished first in the women's high jump with a provisional mark of 1.74 meters and Trey Mooney placed second with a provisional jump of 2.05 meters. Ridenour's jump of 1.74 meters was only .03 meters off an automatic qualifier.
In addition to Ridenour's stellar performance, the Women's Track and Field team had Tamia Rayford win the long jump at 5.43 meters and the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.94 seconds. Rayford also placed second in the 60 meter dash, running 7.83 seconds. The other Bearcat competing in the 200 meter dash was Laurena Jarman and she finished ninth (27.29 seconds). In the women's mile, Tabitha Weber placed second (5:19.73), Abby Friesen took ninth (5:55.76), and Jade Raynor finished 11th (6:00.12). The women's 800 meter run saw Oluwabuko Pereira finish third with a time of 2:27.26, Lilly Using place sixth (2:28.83), and Weber took seventh (2:29.56). In the field events, Ridenour placed third (10.88 meters) and Jarman finished fourth (10.88 meters) in the triple jump. Emma Sloan took fifth (3.40 meters) and Rachel Holt placed 10th (2.80 meters) in the pole vault, and Jarman finished fifth (5.18 meters) in the long jump. Bailey Bowe took seventh (14.15 meters) in the weight throw and 13th (9.29 meters) in the shot put.
On the men's side, Mooney also competed in the 60 meter hurdles and shot put, placing fourth in the hurdles at 8.73 seconds and 26th in the shot put with a throw of 11.60 meters. Asa Carter placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.92 meters and 20th (6.01 meters) in the long jump. The men's shot put had Tyler Gross take 17th (13.65 meters) and Zachary Crawford 33rd (10.38 meters). For the track events, in the men's mile, Tyler Goatley placed fourth (4:26.57), Thomas Chabrecek fifth (4:27.28), Will O'Keefe sixth (4:30.88), Blaine Jimerson 11th (4:38.68), Dustin Shoemaker 23rd (4:46.74), Solomon Rupp 28th (5:11.12), Ryan Pate 30th (5:37.21). The men's distance medley of O'Keefe, Colby Sutton, Matt Christoffer, and Jimerson placed second with a time of 11:01.49. The men's 800 meter run had Sutton finish fifth (2:01.56) and Ansen Colvin in 12th (2:12.22). In the men's 200 meter dash, Joey McCormick took seventh (23.78 seconds) and Wayd Davis placed ninth (24.10 seconds). Samuel McCormick, Jay Grainger, and Rupp all finished seventh (9:57.97), eighth (10:19.78), and 10th (10:43.83) respectively in the 3000 meter run. Rounding out the men's events were eighth and tenth place finishes from Drake Wilkerson (1:16.45) and Matt Christoffer (1:17.52) in the 600 yard run and a 10th place finish for Erik Savage (54.92 seconds) in the 400 meter dash.
Team wise, both Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams finished fourth at the meet. The women's team tallied 65.5 points and the men's team recorder 37 points. Both Bearcat Track and Field squads will be back in action next Friday, January 26th at the PSU Open in Pittsburg, Kansas.
