SBU Hosts Lincoln Saturday on Hall of Fame and Alumni Day

Bolivar, Mo. - Saturday at Southwest Baptist is the 2018 Hall of Fame and Alumni Day and the SBU men (10-7, 4-4 MIAA) concludee their pair of MIAA conference home games with Lincoln (8-10, 2-7 MIAA) Saturday afternoon.

Previewing the Bearcats
The Bearcats sport a 10-7 (4-4 MIAA) record in the 2017-18 season. A tough second half caused SBU to come up short Thursday night against Lindenwood, 69-58. SBU is paced by senior forward Logan Hovey who averages a team high and third best in the MIAA conference 19.0 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Marlon Alcindor averages double figure scoring with 11.9 points per game and Cartier Dean chips in 9.5 points per game. Chris Rossow leads the team in the assists category with 3.8 a game. As a team, the Bearcats are scoring 77.8 points per game, which is seventh best in the MIAA conference, and shoot a conference leading and sixth best in the NCAA 42.7% from behind the arc while giving up 71.6 points per game on 40.9% shooting from opponents. The 40.8 field goal percentage defense ranks third in the MIAA and 28th in the country.

Previewing the Blue Tigers
Lincoln comes into the game with a 8-10 record (2-7 MIAA) and on a two game losing skid. On Thursday, Lincoln traveled to Central Missouri and lost to the Mules, 67-57. The Blue Tigers carry a balanced scoring effort with five players that average double digit scoring. Amariontez Ivory, the 11th best scorer in the MIAA, leads the team with 15.6 points per game and shoots a MIAA conference best 47.1% from three. Terrance Smith and John Burton are next on the team with both averaging 13.9 points per game.Marquise Williams averages a near double double with 10.2 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. The Blue Tigers score 78.5 points per contest and let up the fourth most points in the conference at 74.8.

The Coaches
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy is in his fourth season on the SBU bench, holding a 46-57 (23-45 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 227-158 across twelve seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball. In their last thirteen games, the Bearcats have played exceptionally and recorded a 9-4 record in those 13 games.

John Moseley is in his fourth season coaching the Blue Tigers. At Lincoln, he has posted a record of 45-61 and a 23-46 mark in the MIAA. In his time at Lincoln, Moseley has coached four All-MIAA players. Before coming to Lincoln, Moseley was the associate head coach at North Carolina Central University for three years.

All-Time Series
Southwest Baptist has a decent edge in the all-time series against Lincoln, 27-19. The two teams last matched up in January 2017 at Lincoln, and the Blue Tigers claimed a 85-73 win over the Bearcats.
