Maryville, Mo. - Cold shooting and turnovers got the best of Southwest Baptist as they fell on the road to #4 Northwest Missouri, 78-46. The loss lowers SBU's record to 9-6 (3-3 MIAA) and Northwest Missouri moves to 14-1 (5-1 MIAA).
Logan Hovey and Chris Rossow led SBU in scoring in the game with 13 points and 10 points a piece. Hovey added four rebounds and Rossow chipped in two assists. Damian Prgomet was the top rebounder for SBU with seven rebounds to go along with nine points. On the afternoon, SBU shot 38.5% (15-39) on field goals, 18.2% (2-11) on long balls, and 73.7% (14-19) on free throws. SBU turned the ball over 20 times, which led to 29 points for Northwest. Northwest Missouri also had the slight edge on the boards, 31 to 29.
The first five minutes of action saw Northwest Missouri jump out to a 15-2 lead. At the 9:58 mark, Northwest knocked down a three to make the lead 27-9, forcing Head Coach 
Clark Sheehy to call a timeout. After the timeout, Northwest stretched their lead above twenty but SBU quickly cut that deficit back to 19 on a three point play from Hovey. The rest of the half Northwest would keep their lead between 19 and 21 points with it being a 19 point lead, 40-21, going into halftime.
Over the first seven minutes of the second half, SBU put together a 9-6 scoring advantage to knock Northwest's lead down to 16 points. That would the closest SBU would come though as Northwest expanded their lead from there before coming away with the 78-46 victory over SBU.
Southwest Baptist has a day off before they take the floor again on Monday, January 15 against Missouri Western. Tipoff from St. Joseph is slated for 7:30 PM.
