Women's Basketball Takes On Northwest Missouri Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - After inclement postponed Southwest Baptist's game against Missouri Western, the Bearcats (8-6, 0-5 MIAA) now travel to take on Northwest Missouri State (1-13, 0-6 MIAA) Saturday afternoon.

Previewing the SBU Bearcats
The Bearcats hold a 8-6 (0-5 MIAA) record on the season. They recently lost a heartbreaker against Fort Hays State at home by a final score of 62-61. Over their 14 games, the Bearcats boast the third highest points per game in the conference with 77.4 ppg and the highest free throw percentage in the conference of 82.3%. Megan Rosenbohm and Caylee Richardson make the Bearcats go. Rosenbohm is the 21st best scorer in the NCAA and second leading scorer in the MIAA with 20.0 points per game. She also collects 5.4 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists per game, a conference leading 2.5 steals per game, and makes 90.8% of her free throws. Caylee Richardson averages a near double double with 15.6 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game on 59.7% shooting from the field and 89.1% at the line.

Previewing the NWMSU Bearcats
Northwest Missouri enters the matchup with a record of 1-13 (0-6 MIAA). The Bearcats last played Saturday and are coming off a 73-58 defeat from Pittsburg State. The Bearcats possess a two pronged attack in the form of Tanya Meyer and Jaelyn Haggard. Tanya Meyer leads the team in scoring rebounding with a near double double of 14.6 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game. Jaelyn Haggard scores 12.4 points per game and chips in 1.8 assist per game. The Bearcats score 60.3 points a game on 36.4% shooting and give up the most points in the conference 74.0 points per game on the worst field goal percentage defense of 46.4%.

The Coaches
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer is in her fourth season on the Bearcat bench after leading SBU back to the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City for the first time in three years. Coach Keizer led the Bearcats to back-to-back winning seasons (16-14, 7-12 MIAA last year) in 2015-16 and 2016-17. A feat that had not been done since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Coach Keizer holds a career coaching record of 51-50 and a 22-42 mark in the MIAA.

Buck Scheel is in his second full season as head coach of Northwest Missouri State. Since becoming the eighth head coach in Northwest history, Scheel has achieved a record of 13-46 (7-36 MIAA). He arrived to Northwest after being the top assistant at State Fair Community College.

All-Time Series 
Northwest Missouri has the advantage in the all-time series over SBU, 33-26. The two teams last faced off in January 2017 and Northwest Missouri won the contest, 79-72.
