Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team fought hard in the opening day of the SBU Invite on Friday, but fell to both Fort Lewis and Emporia State. At the conclusion of the day the Bearcats now stand at 0-6 on the season.
In the opening match of the day for SBU, the Bearcats fell 25-18, 25-18, 25-13 to Fort Lewis. 
Mikhaela Cochran had a team high 7 kills and 7.5 points while 
Brea Freeman had 17 assists and 
Dana Neal had 10 digs in the loss. In the match against Emporia State, the Bearcats hung tight with the Hornets but would ultimately fall 25-17, 25-19, 25-13. Neal produced a team high 7 kills to go along with 8 digs, while Freeman had 14 assists, and 
Bailey Baumann had a team high 11 digs in the loss.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, September 9 for the final day of the SBU Invite. SBU is set to host Adams State at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. match against Drury.
