Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team received two goals from
Raegan Edwards on Tuesday evening against Drury, coming away from the match with a 2-2 draw. The Bearcats now stand at 0-1-1 on the season.
SBU was the first to strike in the 15th minute of play when
Mikayla Putt fed Edwards the ball from midfield where she promptly placed the ball in the bottom corner of the net to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead. However, Drury would respond only 33 seconds later with a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1.
After heading into the break tied 1-1, the Bearcats again took the lead. In the 55th minute, Edwards took an impressive shot from outside the box and connected with the far corner of the net to give SBU a 2-0 lead. However, once again the Lady Panthers responded with a goal, this one in the 72nd minute, to tie the game at 2-2. Ashlyn Gibbs picked up three saves as the Bearcats outshot the Lady Panthers 15 to 13 on the afternoon.
SBU will return to action on Saturday, September 9 when they travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State. Play is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from Alva, Oklahoma.
