Tahlequah, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team fell on the road in their final non-conference match of the season 3-1 at Northeastern State on Friday evening.
The RiverHawks jumped out to early lead, scoring in the 5th minute of play before adding goals in the 21st and 28th minutes, as the Bearcats trailed 3-0 early on. SBU settled down from that point on, limiting NSU to only six shot attempts with two on goal. The Bearcats were able to cut into the RiverHawk lead in the 36th minute of play when
Raquel Rodriguez found
Mikayla Putt, and she put the ball into the back of the net to get the Bearcats on the board. However, SBU was unable to score again as the Bearcats eventually fell 3-1.
SBU will return to action on Sunday, September 24 for their MIAA opener at Central Oklahoma. Play is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from Edmond, Oklahoma.
