Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team fell 7-2 at home in a non-conference match against Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon. After the loss the Bearcats drop to 2-3-1 on the season.
Central Oklahoma got out early, taking a 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute of play, and would extend their lead to 3-0 after scoring in the 11th and 17th minutes. The Bearcats got on the board in the 24th minute of action when
Brooke Herald sent in a shot from 25-yards out that went over the keeper's head as the Bearcats trailed 3-1. UCO would add two more goals in the half, in the 36th and 44th minutes, as SBU would go into the break trailing 5-1.
The Bearcats struck first in the second half in the 56th minute when
Raquel Rodriguez sent a corner into the box where
Tessa Wagner headed it in to pull SBU within three at 5-2. The Bronchos answered back with two goals in the 66th minute, one in the 77th minute, and another in the 85th minute as the Bearcats would eventually fall 9-2.
SBU will be back in action on Friday, September 22 for their final non-conference match of the season when they travel to Northeastern State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
