Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team fell 4-2 on Tuesday evening to William Jewell in a tough physical matchup. With the loss the Bearcats fall to 0-4 on the year.
William Jewell struck early, scoring in the seventh minute of play and again in the 12th minute as SBU fell behind 2-0. The Bearcats were able to cut the deficit in half in the 32nd minute when
John Clerveau tossed the ball into the box where
Alec VanWormer finished the play off with his first goal of the season. The Bearcats would go into the break trailing 2-1. 20 minutes passed in the second half before WJC extended their lead to 3-1. However, once again the Bearcats responded with a goal from
Daniel Santibanez is in the 74th minute to pull SBU within one at 3-2. Jewell would add another goal before time expried as SBU would fall 4-2.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, September 16 when they travel to Harding for a rain makeup contest with the Bison.
