Stephenville, Tex. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team fell in their first two matches of the 2017 season at the TexAnn Invite on Friday. The Bearcats fell 3-0 to Texas A&M-Commerce before dropping a 3-0 decision to Henderson State as they now sit at 0-2 on the season.
In the opening game of the day, the Bearcats fell 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 to Texas A&M-Commerce. Mikhaela Cochran led the Bearcats offensively with 6 kills and 1 block, while
Ashleigh DeWees had 11 assists, and Bailey Bauman had 11 digs in the loss.
In the second game of the day, SBU fell 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 to Henderson State.
Dana Neal and
Emily Thompson both had a team high 6 kills while
Katie Robinson added 4 blocks. DeWees (15 assists) and
Brea Freeman (10 assists) were both in double figures in assists, while Baumann once again led the Bearcats in digs with 8.
The Bearcats return to action for the final day of the TexAnn Invite on Saturday, September 2 when they take on Tarleton State and Midwestern State from Stephenville, Texas.
