Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell to #12 Emporia State on Saturday afternoon 12-1. With the loss the Bearcats drop to 30-18 (20-15 MIAA) on the year.
Emporia State jumped ahead early, scoring a pair of runs in the first and five more in the second as SBU trailed 7-0 after two innings of play. The Bearcats trailed 12-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh before SBU loaded the bases on three straight singles from
Jovany Urbieta,
Sean Murley, and
Blake Hobbs.
Clint Jack then hit an RBI single through the left side, getting the Bearcats on the board, but SBU was unable to score again as they would fall 12-1 in 7 innings.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Sunday, May 7 when they host Emporia State for the final game of the three-game series. Opening pitch for senior day is set for 2:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
