Altamonte Springs, Fla. - The Southwest Baptist University men's tennis team secured their second ever trip to the NCAA Final Four with a thrilling 5-4 victory over #16 Ferris State. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 14-4 on the season.
Falling behind early in doubles play, the Bearcats continued to battle. Ferris State struck first, claiming an 8-5 victory at no. 3 doubles before Southwest Baptist came back to eventually take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Chris Blodig knocked off the #15 ranked doubles team in the nation 9-7 to give SBU the early lead.
Abohabaga made quick work of FSU's no. 1 singles play 6-2, 6-4 followed by a 6-2, 6-2 victory by
Torben Semrau at no. 5 singles to give the Bearcats a 4-1 lead. However, Ferris State came storming back, winning at no. 3 and no. 6 singles in straight sets to cut SBU's lead to one at 4-3. FSU then tied the match at 4-4 with a three set victory at no. 2 singles before setting up a thrilling finish.
Raul Cabalero claimed the first set 6-2, but fell in the second set 4-6, and was trailing 5-6 in the third and deciding set. Cabalero came back to tie the third set 6-6 before winning the tie break 7-1 to propel SBU to their second ever Final Four.
The Bearcats will now match up against #1 West Florida on Wednesday, May 11. Play is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from Altamonte Springs, Florida.
