SBU Softball Splits Series with Nationally Recognized Central Oklahoma

Edmond, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University Softball team picked up a series split against nationally recognized Central Oklahoma. Following the UCO series SBU now stands at 26-12 (10-6 MIAA) record on the season. 

In game one Kacey Ayers-Evans would come out strong as she would four of the first six batters she faced, both teams would be held scoreless in the first two innings. In the bottom of the 3rd inning UCO would push across two runs and take a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning. Dana Graves would open up the 5th inning, but SBU could not capitalize and the game would remain 2-0. The 2-0 score would hold up and UCO would take game one.

Claire Miller would shine in game two, as she would retire the first nine batters she would face. Both teams would fail to score until the top of the 6th inning when SBU would score two runs and take a 2-0 lead. The inning began with a walk to Stormy Christerson; Lauren Strobel would follow with an RBI triple giving SBU a 1-0 lead. Graves would single in Strobel increasing SBU's led to 2-0. Miller would retire the next six batters including a game ending strikeout to seal the 2-0 victory for SBU. With the win SBU snapped UCO's nine game win streak.

Megan Schellert and Dana Graves would each have two hits on the day, while Graves and Luren Strobel would each get an RBI. Kacey Ayers-Evans would throw six innings striking out three, and Claire Miller would throw a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts. 

SBU returns to actions Saturday, April 8th as they finish up their 12-game road trip with an MIAA double header at Northeastern State. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 PM from Tahlequah, Okla.
